Private trip to the sinaia monastery

Any trip to Romania and any vacation in Romania should include Sinaia Monastery, as one of the many Romanian tourist attractions with great spiritual and historical value. The monastery is located in the city with the same name, only 500 m away from Peles Castle and fairly close to Bucharest.

The orthodox establishment is over 300 years old and it is dubbed as “the Cathedral of the Carpathians” due to its positioning in the most beautiful mountain resort in Romania surrounded by a stunning mountain scenery. It was also the first construction in this territory, founded by Prince (Spatarul) Mihai Cantacuzino. He decided to erect the house of worship following a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, with its name inspired by Mount Sinai.

Romania in the Guinness Book of Records

It is one of the most important Romanian monasteries, being on the list of Romanian historical monuments and having been the first electrified place of worship in the country.

Embodying 300 years of Romanian history, the Sinaia Monastery is a genuine museum of art and spirituality. Here you can find the first Bible (the Holy Book of Christianity) translated into Romanian and published in Bucharest, 1698, as well as an impressive collection of icons.

If you have done a bit of travelling, you will find it tempting to compare the largest Romanian orthodox churches with world-renowned European cathedrals.

Romanian monasteries and churches have never aimed to replicate the grandeur of great European cathedrals, such as La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, or the Notre Dame in Paris. Nevertheless, the first church of Sinaia evinces a particular warmth, as if through an intimate connection with the Creator.

Amid the massive stone walls, which isolate the space from the outside world, the peace and silence will make it seem like time itself has stood still …

It is understandable why Romanian kings, as well as other cultural and political figures would often come here to unwind and reflect.

Hellen Keller once famously said: “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.”, and you can decide for yourself if that is true.

We include The Sinaia Monastery in the program in multiple forms of booking tours to museums, monasteries or medieval villages, but this must only tell us when and how you have scheduled vacation just to you can suggest and overlap with various events that occur frequently, such as concerts, festivals, plays, fairs and exhibitions itinerant, seasonal discounts, etc..
